T1DandGF? What crazy code is that? T1D = Type 1 Diabetes. GF = Gluten Free. Warning: If you read this blog you may learn more than you ever cared to know about both. And now, onwards with a friendly introduction.
Welcome to our label-reading and carb-counting family! In 2013, our then 8-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and Celiac Disease. We are now living the T1D and gluten-free life, while striving for normalcy amid constant challenges. What is normal, anyway? We continue to go about our daily activities, with insulin, diabetic supplies, and gluten-free snacks onboard, and always having to plan ahead. Sometimes it is easy and not a big deal. Other times it is stressful, frustrating and challenging. We try to find humor in this all as much as we can, because if you can’t laugh about it, what good is it? Join us on our roller-coaster ride.
In addition to this blog, you can follow us on Facebook, where we post other links and snippets of information that don’t make the cut for an actual “blog” post. Thank you for reading, commenting, sharing and spreading awareness about Type 1 Diabetes and Celiac!
